Penyanyi 90an: Silverchair, Band Raksasa yang Kini 'Hibernasi'

Fimela.com, Jakarta Musik rock bisa dibilang selalu punya jumlah penikmat yang besar dari masa ke masa. Namun euforianya memang tak sebesar era 90 hingga 2000an, ketika band-band sebesar Silverchair masih getol berkarya.

Band asal Australia yang berdiri sejak 1992 ini punya sederet karya yang banyak jadi referensi musisi-musisi sekarang. Dari album pertama Frogstomp (1995) hingga Young Modern (2007), Silverchair konsisten dengan karakter dan formasi trio mereka.

Pada 2011, para personel Silverchair tak lagi menemukan gairah dalam berkarya. Terbukti dari 2007 mereka tak merilis album lagi, pertanda kebuntuan kreativitas mereka sebagai sebuah tim. Karenanya, mereka memilih hiatus hingga saat ini untuk mencari jati diri masing-masing.

Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies, dan Chris Joannou memang tak menyebut diri bubar. Artinya, penikmat musik 90an masih punya harapan untuk bangkitnya sang raksasa dari hibernasi panjangnya.
