Penyanyi 90an: Beastie Boys Terpisah Oleh Maut

Fimela.com, Jakarta Beastie Boys mungkin bukan nama pertama yang muncul di ingatan ketika membahas tentang grup hip hop internasional. Namun tak bisa dipungkiri, para musisi asal New York City ini salah satu yang terbaik.

Berawal dari pertemanan, Beastie awalnya merupakan band hardcore punk dengan 4 personel. Pada 1978 jadi rintisan awal Beastie Boys di industri musik hingga mereka berhasil meraih 7 platinum dari album-albumnya.

Yang paling menonjol dari Mike D dkk tentunya adalah gaya eksperimental mereka dalam bermusik. Memadukan hip hop, rap rock dan hardcore, energi mereka begitu luar biasa.

Beastie Boys menelurkan total 8 album sepanjang kariernya, dengan beberapa kali bongkar pasang personel. Kesuksesan mereka tak terbantahkan, sampai maut merenggut.

Mei 2012, Adam Yauch pentolan Beastie Boys meninggal akibat kanker. Hal ini menjadi pukulan telak bagi Mike D, yang pada 2014 menyatakan tak lagi berkarya sebagai Beastie Boys demi menghormati MCA.
